Education: Charles was educated at York University, graduating from the Fitness Assessment stream of the Kinesiology program. Areas of study included exercise physiology, advanced sports psychology, anatomy, and nutrition, among other areas. Charles was a three year Academic All Canadian. Charles graduated with his Honours Degree in 1998.

Certification: Charles earned his PFLC certification concurrently with his Kin degree through York University.

Coaching Experience: He has been actively working as a personal trainer since graduation, working with a large number of distance runners.

Personal Athletic Experience: While in university, Charles competed for four years on the varsity track and cross country team. Charles is now a New Balance sponsored professional runner. Running competitively for the past eleven years, Charles has won several races from the 5k up to the marathon. Charles significant wins include the 2003 and 2004 Endur Run, and the 2004 PEC marathon.

Charles won 2004 Alfie Shrubb and set a course record of 25:30.
