Welcome to Dave’s World! I’m Dave McGovern, a roving racewalking coach and member of the US National Racewalk Team. During my 20-year competitive career I’ve won 13 U.S. National Championships and have walked 20 kilometers (12.4 miles--one of the two Olympic distances for men) in 1:24:29--a 6:46 per-mile pace--which ranks me as the fastest American ever to not make an Olympic Team. (Onward to 2008!) To support my racewalking habit, I’ve been leading week-long training camps and weekend clinics all over the globe since 1991. In addition to coaching racewalking, I’m a writer for Walk! Magazine, and the author of The Complete Guide to Marathon Walking, The Complete Guide to Racewalking Technique and Training and Precision Walking.
