One of the world’s great distance runners from 1900 to 1920, Alfred celebrated his birthday yesterday by attending a seniors citizens’ dinner talking to newspaper and posing for pictures. There is still spring in his step and lift to his laugh. alfred has heard the theory that the intense exertions of competitive sport can damage a man’s health, and he laugh at it.
