Alfred Shrubb won over 1000 races in his career!  In this shot he has 167 winning medals on his chest. Some of these medals you will see individual pictures. You will note the the medal that we give out at our race each year (in Bowmanville Ontario) is the most prominent medal in this picture. Look by his right and you will see the July 19, 1902 medal. This picture is encase is a sheild that has all of his world records, it is noted that some of the times in this sheild Alfred broke with better times again. The longest standing record was the hour mark, the record of going one hour was not broken until 1951. Alfred ran one hour and ran 11 miles 1,137 yards. This was at Ibrox Park November 4th 1904 a special day..as alfred broke several other amateum and world records as well.
